Eligibility:
Must be United States citizen, member of the USSRA in good
standing and comply with all World Squash Federation eligibility
requirements regarding international championships.
1. Selection System
There are two phases involved in the selection of the US
Team that will compete in the World Junior Team Championships.
Phase One
Qualification for the team trials will be based on regular
season rankings from US Junior Selection Tournaments listed
below (see III. Selection Tournaments and Team Trials).
Phase Two
Final team selection for the US Team:
• The best three results from the Selection Tournaments
listed below (see 3. Selection Events and Team Trials) will
be counted according to a point system dependent on finish
placement (See Chart below).
• The top two ranked players who have accrued the most
points as of April 1st of that year automatically make the
team.
• The remaining two positions for the team will be selected
during Team Trials with a play-off between the players who
are ranked three through eight in terms of accrued points
as of April 1st. The top two finishers in the Trials make
the team.
Note: Rankings will be calculated by totaling the best three
events. For example, if a player only plays two events then
his/her point total will be totaled with only these two events.
If a player plays four events, their worst event score will
be thrown out.
Note: Alternate Players and Extra players taken to the Worlds
The method of replacement in the event one or more of the
original four team members withdraws is the appointment of
the next person in descending numerical order from the Team
Trials (i.e. 3rd place or 4th place in the play-offs). If
a team or alternate position is still vacant after all eligible
players have been asked then the Selection Committee will
select a player.
2. Inability to Participate in an Event before Team Trials
Event Cancellation:
If an event is cancelled and a player will not have three
results to compute his/her ranking then that player will be
awarded the point equivalent of his/her most recent result.
Injury or Illness:
If a player will not have three results to compute his ranking
as a result of injury then that player may be awarded the
point equivalent of his most recent result at the Selection
Committee’s discretion.
Other Circumstances:
The Selection Committee shall have the discretion to evaluate
other circumstances, other than injury or illness, which preclude
an athlete from participating in a scheduled selection event.
Supporting evidence of the circumstance(s) may be required.
Note: An athlete candidate citing extenuating or other circumstances
must also advise the USSRA in writing or via email to vijay.chitnis@us-squash.org
.
3. The Selection Series
Points are earned only in the U19 division in Selection Series
tournaments.
2006-2007 Tournaments to earn points (best three results
are used for final calculation):
November 10-12 (Fri-Sun) Hunter Lott (University of Pennsylvania)
December 16-19 (Sat-Tues) US Junior Open (Pro Club)
January 13-15 (Sat-Mon) Frank Millet (Harvard University)
March 2-4 (Fri-Sun) US Junior Closed (Meadow Mill Athletic
