The World Team Championships happens every 2 years and this year, 2005, it is being hosted in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The US team will consist of 4 squad members that will compete against teams from all over the world for the title of World Team Champions.

It’s a tough week of squash with one or 2 matches in a day. Each team consists of 3 players so, in any given tie, the winning team is the first to win 2 of those matches. It’s crucial to have the four Squad members to share the work through the week, resting when possible, in order to be in the best possible shape for every match.

It’s a huge team effort. Through the course of the week we can expect anything from tiredness, injuries, stiffness and potentially illness to be hurdles to overcome.

The US Men’s team will be decided by the players individual performances over the course of the 2005 selection event series which culminates in the playoff weekend at Dayton Squash Club, OH, from Oct 5-8th 2005.

Of the top 6 players in the grand prix selection ranking, the top 2 win a place in the squad by right and the remaining 4 play off for the last 2 squad positions.

The team leaves on Dec 5th 2005, Islamabad bound. The competition is the 8th-14th. Watch this website for results and team blogs to keep you in the picture!
