Team USA found the winning rhythm once more today in Chennai, India, defeating Japan 3-0.

Julian Illingworth led off against Jun Matsumoto. Because none of the Japanese players play on the PSA circuit, the American boys did not know exactly what to expect. Matsumoto came out firing on all cylinders, going up 10-7 in the first. However, the talented Illingworth calmed down and forced two errors in a row, before placing in three winners of his own to take the first game 12-10. The next two games went by much easier, 11-4, 11-7. Next on was Richard Chin against Yuta Fukui. Chin played accurate squash against the young Fukui, putting him in all four corners, rolling to an 11-9, 11-8, 11-6 victory in under a half hour. Christopher Gordon followed suit in the dead rubber match, besting Takanori Shimizu 11-7, 11- 6, 11- 6. The victory over Japan concluded pool play for Team USA, placing them second in Pool C and guaranteeing them a spot in the top 16. Now play moves to a standard team-draw format. Team USA drew the number four-seeded Australia, a strong and experienced bunch of players that are looking to win the entire championship.
